The Blues won the Club World Cup by beating PSG.
In a class act, Chelsea players are set to donate their portion of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup bonuses to the family of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre.
Enzo Maresca’s 24-man team are set to get a total bonus of £11.4 million after winning the tournament.
However, in a remarkable display of class, Chelsea players have chosen to donate a portion of their bonuses to support Jota’s wife, who lost her husband in an accident alongside his brother Andre Silva.

The decision to forgo some bonuses was reached jointly by the players and the Blues management. What proportion of their bonus will be given to Jota’s family is unknown.
Due to their contributions to the tournament’s victory, each player is set to receive £475,000. However, before they made their kind gifts to Jota’s family, their entire bonus is supposed to be deducted by taxes and social security expenses.
Liverpool to honour Jota with a sculpture

A sculpture outside Anfield will honour Liverpool’s former Portuguese winger, who was a beloved player. Before their Premier League start against AFC Bournemouth on Friday, the Kop team will observe a minute’s silence in remembrance of the late Jota brothers.
Throughout the 2025–2026 season, the players will honour their former teammate by wearing a ‘Forever 20’ insignia on their shirts at every game.
In a heartfelt homage to Jota, who scored 65 goals in 182 games for the Reds, the team has retired his No. 20 shirt at all levels.
“As a club, we were all acutely aware of the sentiment of our supporters – and we felt exactly the same way,” stated FSG CEO Michael Edwards in reference to the decision.
“It was vitally important to us to involve Diogo’s wife, Rute, and his family in the decision and to ensure they were the first to know of our intention.”
“I believe this is the first time in Liverpool Football Club’s history that such an honour has been bestowed upon an individual.”
