Chelsea transfer news round-up: Joao Felix deal agreed, Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid
The Blues remain the most active club this summer transfer window.
Chelsea continue to splurge during the ongoing transfer window. They have acquired plenty of players this summer. Since the takeover of new owner Todd Boehly, the club have mainly emphasised signing young players. This summer there have been some experienced player acquisitions as well.
Despite a slew of signings, the club’s start of the new Premier League campaign hasn’t gone to plan. They suffered a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City. Signs were there that the young squad would need some time to click as they did put the City defence to the test.
They will next play this midweek when they face Servette in the UEFA Conference League play-off. With the summer window yet to be closed, the club are still looking to add a few players. Below we take a look at some latest transfer speculations related to Chelsea.
Chelsea closing in on signing Joao Felix & Conor Gallagher on verge of leaving the Blues
The West Londoners have advanced in signing Joao Felix. It is understood the club have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign the player. Felix will sign a six-year contract with the option for a further 12 months.
Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico a few weeks ago had collapsed. The midfielder travelled back to London. However, the deal now seems on. Once the Blues sign Felix, Gallagher will be on his way to Spain to join Atletico.
Chelsea reject Napoli’s initial bid for Romelu Lukaku
The Blues have turned down Napoli’s first proposal of a €30 million obligation to buy. The Stamford Bridge hosts want €40 million for Romelu Lukaku. It was earlier understood that Napoli were open to using Victor Osimhen in a swap deal to sign Lukaku, but that has not been the case.
Now the Serie A side will attempt to make an improved offer for the striker. Antoni Conte wants to be reunited with the Belgium striker.
Brighton lead Chelsea in the race for Celtic star Matt O’Riley
Brighton Hove & Albion are ahead of Chelsea in signing Celtic sensation Matt O’Riley. Despite no agreement reached with Celtic, the Seagulls continue to remain in talks with the club. It is believed the club are said to be holding out for a fee of around £30 million.
Crystal Palace in talks with Chelsea for Chukwuemeka
Crystal Palace started talks with Chelsea regarding the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka. They have made progress in the move. Barcelona have also expressed interest. But his wages are proving to be an issue for the Spanish club. Chelsea are open to agreeing to a fee lower than £40 million for the midfielder.
Raheem Sterling could be sold
Chelsea omitted Raheem Sterling from their game against Manchester City. The club are looking to sell the winger. Though no European clubs have expressed interest, there is a deal on the table from an unnamed club in the Saudi Pro League. The player has shown ‘little interest’ in making that move.
Victor Osimhen’s speculation continue
Chelsea have long been interested in signing Victor Osimhen, but the club previously decided to look elsewhere. However, now the club are once again in the race after Paris Saint-Germain decided not to reignite their interest in Victor Osimhen.
After the Ligue 1 team dropped their interest, it seems the Blues will plan to pounce on his signing if Napoli manages to sign Lukaku.
