The Blues will take on Wolves on matchday 22 in the Premier League.

Just a few weeks ago, Chelsea were pushing to be in this season’s Premier League title race while Wolverhampton Wanderers were looking like they are not going to get relegated this time. After some wobbles for both, however, a handful of good results is required for each of those statements to ring true once more. During the next Premier League matchday, only one can get three points at the expense of the other.

Injuries have made things a bit difficult for Enzo Maresca and after a disappointing draw against Bournemouth, they will look to get all three points at home when they lock horns against Wolves. Things are surely complicated for the Blues but they are capable of turning around the situation.

On the other hand, Wolves started this season very poorly as they were in the relegation zone. Now they are sitting at the 17th spot with 16 points on the board. They have a better goal difference than Ipswich Town and still, the danger of getting back to the relegation zone is there for them. Facing Chelsea away from home will not be an easy task but considering their form, Wolves can force them to drop points. The away team will have to be at their best to get a positive result from the upcoming fixture.

Kick-off:

Location: Stamford Bridge

Form

Chelsea (in all competitions): D-W-D-L-L

Wolves (in all competitions): L-W-L-D-W

Players to Watch

Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea)

Fernandez is a right-footed midfielder with experience as a number eight in central midfield and a deeper defensive-midfield position. He has a broad skillset, contributing a great deal both in and out of possession. The Argentine is very comfortable on the ball and is happy to step out of defence with it, before playing vertical, line-breaking passes into midfield.

There is an impressive variety to his long-range passes. He can delicately lift the ball over opponents or play longer, driven balls. He also has the ability to play through the opposition structure with low, angled passes to look for a runner in on goal. Fernandez presses intelligently and will aim to force the ball into a specific trap – usually towards the touchline where a teammate then attempts an interception or tackle. In 20 games, he has scored three goals and provided four assists.

Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves)

He possesses excellent ball control and dribbling skills, which have been evident since his youth. He quite often finds himself in advanced positions from which he can score or create good chances for his teammates. Nouri has shown that he can make a difference offensively with more assured finishing and decision-making in the final third.

Also, given his skill set and his eye-catching ability on the ball, Nouri is a very useful weapon offensively. He is like a double-edged sword. His performance against the Blues will matter a lot for the away team. In 20 games, he has scored three goals and provided five assists.
