Fernandez’s recent fallout could facilitate his exit from Chelsea.

According to reports, Enzo Fernández’s remarks “divided Chelsea’s dressing room,” with his teammates angry. Now the captain could be more open about leaving.

A move in the summer could be one of the options for the midfielder if things don’t return to normal at Chelsea. He has now learned that his remarks will have consequences at the club, and this might be the end of his time at West London. Certainly, other clubs would want to sign such a top-quality player, and we list five clubs that might lure him in.

5. Manchester City

Manchester City were mentioned as one of the teams that might try to sign the midfield player this summer in the immediate wake of Fernández’s remarks.

Fernández is a fantastic passer with box-crashing skills comparable to a peak İlkay Gündoğan. City are still in a phase of rebuilding its midfield after losing Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, and Gündoğan in recent years.

Even though City might need to replace Bernardo Silva soon, it doesn’t seem probable that they will spend a lot of money on acquiring Fernández this summer.

4. Atlético Madrid

Even though he has improved since the beginning of the 2024–2025 season, Enzo Fernández has always felt like a player better suited to the Spanish game. There is little question that he could succeed in LaLiga’s slower tempo. However, the Argentine, who has excelled as an auxiliary No. 10 in west London, might not be the ideal systematic fit for Simeone’s 4-4-2.

Furthermore, some could wonder if Atlético Madrid would be prepared to pay such a high price to get a player at a position in which they are comparatively well-stocked. Their top goal would be to find a replacement for Antoine Griezmann.

3. Al Hilal

If Fernández pressed for a transfer at the conclusion of the season, there’s little question that the Saudi Pro League teams owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) have the funds to interest Chelsea.

But the 25-year-old Fernández doesn’t appear to desire to go to the Middle East at this point in his career. He would be more keen to continue playing for more years in Europe.

2. Paris Saint-Germain

PSG looking to offer manager Luis Enrique lifetime contract: Report
Rumours say Luis Enrique (in pic) is fond of his playing style.

Adding Fernández would seem to be an instance of the wealthy becoming even wealthier in a certain area. In Spain, there have even been rumours that Luis Enrique is eager to bring him because he thinks he is ideal for his playing style.

Given his skills in possession, Fernández should theoretically flourish on a ball-dominant team. But the midfield player is far from perfect. He continues to be a terrible recovery runner and an all-around subpar player when not in possession.

1. Real Madrid

Real Madrid Enzo Fernandez

In an effort to fill the gap of Toni Kroos, Real Madrid have compiled a lengthy wishlist of midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window. The club seem to have listed Enzo Fernandez as a potential signing in the summer.

Moreover, the 25-year-old stated on a podcast this week that he would prefer to live in Madrid in response to rumours that he would join Real Madrid. Only time will tell if the move will transpire as the Blues will demand a hefty price for the midfielder.

Will Enzo Fernández leave Chelsea in the summer?

He might leave the club if things don’t return to normal.

Which club could he join then?

Real Madrid could be the possible destination.
