Top five clubs that can sign Adrien Rabiot after Juventus exit
Adrien Rabiot left Juventus after a successful five-year stint.
French midfielder Adrien Rabiot has officially left Italian giants Juventus as a free agent this summer after failed talks over a new contract.
In the 2023–24 season, Rabiot was an instrumental player for the Old Lady, making 35 appearances across all competitions while also recording five goals and three assists in the process. His consistent performances guided Juventus to an Italian Cup triumph and a third-place finish in Serie A, securing UEFA Champions League football for the upcoming campaign. The 29-year-old midfielder also made five appearances in France’s semifinal run during Euro 2024.
In his five-year stint at Turin, Adrien Rabiot made a total of 212 appearances, registering 22 goals and 15 assists in the process. During this period, he won a solitary Serie A title, two Italian Cups and one Italian Super Cup.
His availability as a free agent in the market has lined up a host of top clubs for his signature. With that said, here are the top five clubs that can sign Adrien Rabiot after his Juventus exit:
5. Arsenal
Adrien Rabiot could prove to be a good fit in Mikel Arteta’s possession-based system at Arsenal. Currently, the North London side have options such as defensive midfielders Declan Rice and Thomas Partey and attacking midfielders in the form of captain Martin Odegaard and Fabio Viera, with no proper out-and-out central midfielders at their disposal.
With his proven experience as a pure central midfielder at top clubs like PSG and Juventus, Rabiot could solve that potential problem. Strong ball-winning skills, solid passing range and potential goal-threat ability make the 29-year-old midfielder a low-risk recruit who can deliver good performances on a consistent basis.
Following big-money signings in recent windows, Rabiot as a free agent could be appealing to the Arsenal hierarchy.
4. AC Milan
In a new era under coach Paulo Fonseca, the signing of Adrien Rabiot could prove to be a statement move by AC Milan. With a young midfield dynamic of players such as Yunus Musah, Tijjani Reijnders and Yacine Adli, Rabiot could bring much-needed experience to the side with his composed style of play.
The French international could also serve as one of the dressing-room leaders and guide this new-look Milan side to a potential title charge in the upcoming season. His well-rounded game makes him a valuable asset on both ends of the pitch, be it for attacking buildup or defensive stability.
Additionally, Rabiot already understands the Serie A league from his time spent at Juventus and wouldn’t need a major adaptation period. Despite his high salary demands, Adrien Rabiot could instantly bolster AC Milan’s midfield.
3. Liverpool
Liverpool are one of the few clubs in Europe who are yet to make a signing this summer. The potential signing of Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer could be the perfect way for the English side to open their account for the window.
After a complete midfield rebuild last season with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszolai, the Reds could look for smart recruits in the midfield this summer instead of spending big.
With the club set to kickstart a new era under Dutch manager Arne Slot, a shrewd signing like Adrien Rabiot could prove to be a low-risk, high-reward opportunity on the market. The French midfielder would seamlessly fit into the demands of a high-pressing system.
2. Napoli
After a dismal last campaign, Napoli made the ambitious appointment of Italian coach Antonio Conte to get them back on track to winning silverware. If the club wishes to continue the upward trajectory on the market, then they should look no further than Adrien Rabiot.
The former PSG star could be the workhorse engine of Conte’s midfield in the upcoming season and can deliver the desired output tirelessly on both ends of the pitch.
Napoli have already lost a key midfielder in the form of Piotr Zieliński to rivals Inter Milan on a free transfer this summer. With additional attributes of leadership and big-match experience, Rabiot’s signing could well and truly be a like-for-like replacement in the squad that could potentially challenge for trophies.
1. Manchester United
Manchester United have been the most proactive team on the market this summer. After confirming manager Erik ten Hag’s contract extension, the Red Devils have already made two exceptional signings, Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.
Amidst this spending spree, the free signing of Adrien Rabiot could definitely be a masterclass move by United. The 29-year-old midfielder was high on the shopping list of the Premier League outfit even last summer, but the player ultimately decided to extend his stay in Turin.
With the high salary demands of Rabiot’s camp not being a matter of concern for the United board, the recruitment of a dynamic midfielder like him could add much-needed depth, quality and experience to the squad.
The revamped sporting structure at Manchester United have been at the top of its game so far, making the smart signing of Adrien Rabiot up next being a very realistic possibility.
