Top five left-wingers to watch out for at Copa America 2024
Vini Jr will look to deliver Brazil their first Copa America in this decade.
The kick-off to the 48th edition of Copa America is just moments away. 16 teams divided into four groups will go head-to-head to eventually decide the winners on 14th July. The quadrennial international football competition organized by CONMEBOL will be held in the USA this time.
The coveted tournament will be played across 14 cities. In Copa America 2024, ten teams from CONMEBOL & six from CONCACAF are taking part. Last time, with Argentina emerging champions in Copa America 2021, we witnessed 65 goals in 28 games, at an insane average of 2.32 goals per match. This year, the football fraternity would hope to surpass that figure.
On that note, let’s have a look at the best left-wingers to participate in this season’s Copa America:
5. Luis Sinisterra
The Colombian 24-year-old possesses unbelievable pace & superb dribbling skills. Sinisterra also holds the ability to give quality passes & shoot regularly. He can be an ideal sub for Luis Diaz in the Nestor Lorenzo-coached side.
He also can switch wings. For AFC Bournemouth, he has scored four goals this season. For La Tricolor he has played 12 games to date, scoring four goals.
4. Gabriel Martinelli
The 2001-born Brazilian has had a positive 2023-24 in the EPL with Arsenal. His performance in the UEFA Champions League has also been noteworthy. Martinelli has displayed exceptional skills while playing for the Gunners this time.
He also hails the ability to play as a center-forward & right-winger. Brazil is an automatic favorite in Copa America 2024, with the likes of Vinicius & Gabriel in the right wing along with Rodrygo in the left.
3. Alejandro Garnacho
At only 19 years of age, Garnacho has already set high bars of expectation on him with his champion-like performance for Manchester United this season. The teenager has appeared in 36 EPL 2023-24 matches, scoring seven goals & providing four assists.
The Argentine has also featured in five international games, one of which was a World Cup qualifier. His electric pace will be a plus for the defending champions, who already have legends like Messi & Di-Maria in the attacking half.

2. Luis Diaz
Luis Diaz is one of the finest wingers to play in Copa America 2024. The Liverpool speedster has been prolific this season, scoring eight goals & providing five assists in 37 Premier League matches. Diaz can switch wings & move down to play as an LM.
His performance will determine Colombia’s campaign to a large extent. Diaz needs to gel up well with captain James Rodriguez, to improve Colombia’s chances in Copa.
1. Vinicius Jr
Vinicius Jr is by far the best winger in world football currently along with France’s Kylian Mbappe. The Brazilian was an integral part of Real Madrid’s magical 2023-24, where they clinched the La Liga & UEFA Champions League.
With pace, determination, skills, consistency & a knack for scoring goals regularly, Vinicius has got it all to be the best. The 23-year-old has very well fit into Neymar’s shoes. The Real Madrid star has struck 15 times in La Liga this season. He also has scored half a dozen goals to his name in the Champions League.
For Brazil, the 1.76m forward has featured in 30 games to date.
