The French superstar wins legal battle against his former side.
In an argument over unpaid salary and bonuses related to the expiration of Kylian Mbappe’s deal before his 2024 transfer to Real Madrid, a Paris labour court decided on Tuesday that Paris Saint-Germain have to compensate Mbappé with €61 million.
The Conseil de prud’hommes de Paris heard arguments from attorneys last month. In the face of allegations of treachery and harassment related to their relationship’s demise, the court took the player’s side.
After Kylian Mbappé left on a free transfer, PSG demanded 440 million euros from him, claiming damages and a “loss of opportunity.”
The decision came after months of legal battle after the French striker sued PSG over payments he claimed were withheld for April, May, and June 2024, just before he left the team to sign a free transfer with Real Madrid.
Court orders PSG to pay Mbappe his unpaid salary and bonuses

The court determined that PSG had neglected to pay Mbappe a signing bonus, an ethical bonus, and three months’ worth of his salary as required by his employment contract.
Two rulings by the French Professional Football League (LFP) in September and October of 2024 recognised those amounts as owed. The judges stated that PSG had failed to present any documentation proving Kylian Mbappe had renounced his entitlement.
Meanwhile, PSG denied any allegations of harassment, emphasising that Mbappé participated in more than 94% of games in 2023–2024 and that his working conditions were always in accordance with the Professional Football Charter.
Mbappé departed as a free agent after turning down a 300 million euro bid from Saudi club Al-Hilal in July 2023. PSG sought a total of 440 million euros in damages, comprising 180 million euros for the missed chance to move him on.
Kylian Mbappe scored a club record 256 goals in seven years at PSG and decided to leave the club last season when his deal expired.
