The Portuguese superstar was out of the matchday squad for Al Nassr’s Saudi Pro League fixture against Al Kholood.
Cristiano Ronaldo turned heads once again as he mysteriously enquired about one of his eldest fans on social media. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was surprisingly not part of Al Nassr’s roster as they took on Al Kholood in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.
Ronaldo has already missed an AFC Champions League Elite clash with a viral infection last month, sitting out of the game against Al Shorta. The club had posted the following on X after his diagnosis,
“Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo was not feeling well today and was diagnosed with a viral infection. The team’s doctor confirmed he needs to rest and stay at home. As a result, he will not be traveling with the team to Iraq today. We wish our captain a speedy recovery.”
Today, during Al Nassr’s game Ronaldo took to X to post a video of an elderly fan, asking other supporters for help identifying him and claiming that any information would be helpful. In his post, the gentleman is seen holding up a phone as he sang along to chants of “Ronaldo, Ronaldo” by fans.
What was the motive behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s post?
While it might seem cryptic, our best guess is Cristiano Ronaldo is trying to reach out to this particular elderly fan to extend his gratitude. The former Real Madrid legend has forever been appreciative of the support he has always gotten and this move is yet another example of that.
From convincing stewards to allow supporters on the field and take pictures with him, to taking selfies with them outside the stadium, Ronaldo has done it all. Although fans might be worried about his health after he did not make it to the matchday squad for Al Nassr, they will surely be delighted by this warm gesture by their footballing hero.
Cristiano Ronaldo has already scored six goals and assisted two more in seven matches for his side this season and had also netted the winner in their previous Saudi Pro League fixture, which was a 1-0 win over Al Shabab. Despite claims of his age catching up to him, the 39-year-old striker has easily defied them keeping his marvelous goalscoring record intact.
Why did Cristiano Ronaldo miss the Al Kholood clash in Saudi Pro League?
While the real season is still unknown, but Ronaldo’s absence from the full squad could have been a strategic move by the manager, with the team looking well in the Asian Champions League and several other big names upcoming in the near future. There is no reported injury about the five-time Ballon d’Or winner so far.
