Cristiano Ronaldo called up for Portugal's UEFA Nations League games in September 2024

A Seleção will face Croatia and Scotland in the Nations League this September.
Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to be part of Portugal’s squad. Despite his age, the striker is named on the roster for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games in September.
Following the heartbreaking exit from the Euro 2024 against France, Ronaldo has continued to be the regular starter. The former Real Madrid player rather endured a forgettable outing. He failed to score in the competition and managed to only provide an assist.
However, Roberto Martinez has maintained his faith in Ronaldo once again. He will lead the attacking line in the Nations League when they face Croatia and Scotland.
The former Juventus striker has already got his hands on the trophy back in 2019. It was the inaugural competition.
This could be his last tournament. It’s unlikely that he will be in the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The legend will be 42 by then.
There are new faces as well in the national squad as well. Chelsea left-back Renato Veiga and Lille defender Tiago Santos have received their first call-up in the squad. They will be aiming to make their first appearance for the national team.
Portugal have a surplus of proficiency on their roster. However, they haven’t performed at that calibre in important contests. There could be a number of reasons for this. They will need to address it before playing Croatia and Scotland.
