Ronaldo might be playing his sixth and final edition of the competition.
The 39-year-old captain of Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo, has referred to his country’s squad as “the love of his life” and called it “a gift” to be able to play at the top level.
Ahead of his historic sixth appearance, Ronaldo prepared by netting twice in Tuesday’s 3-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland, bringing his total goal count for the national team to 130.
Formerly of Real Madrid and Manchester United, Ronaldo has represented Portugal since 2003. Under Roberto Martinez, Portugal are currently one of the favourites to win Euro 2024.
Portugal’s Group F campaign begins on June 18 against Czechia. In the first round, they also play Turkey and later debutants Georgia.
