Ronaldo was subbed off during the game after suffering fatigue.

Jorge Jesus, the manager of Al-Nassr, has taken steps to ease concerns over Cristiano Ronaldo’s fitness following the Portuguese forward’s forced substitution during his team’s valiant victory on Saturday.

The Riyadh giants’ 3-1 victory over Al-Fayha marked a stunning reversal in the Saudi Pro League title battle. However, fans were alarmed when they saw their skipper hobble out late in the second half, which seemed like an injury. Al-Nassr were able to overtake Al-Ahli and take their place at the top of the table despite the scare.

Before leaving early, the seasoned Portuguese international had a rough evening. Mohamed Simakan went down with little to no contact in the first exchanges, and Al-Nassr were given a contentious penalty. Cristiano Ronaldo, who is typically accurate from 12 yards out, missed the spot-kick.

Abdulelah Al-Amri’s own goal just before halftime gave Christos Kontis’s Al-Fayha an unexpected lead, making things worse for the visitors. For the majority of the evening, Al-Nassr’s direct approach was unable to break through the hosts’ tenacious defence, putting the league leaders in danger of suffering a costly loss.

Jesus insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo‘s departure was a preventative measure rather than a reaction to a significant rip or strain. He gave information in an interview with the media after the final whistle.

In his post-game press conference, the seasoned coach clarified that the choice to bench his star player was to manage his workload during a high-intensity stretch of the season.

Jorge Jesus: “He felt muscular fatigue. After we made it 2-1, I didn’t want to risk it and I replaced him. The medical department will assess his condition, but what he felt was just muscle fatigue.”

Al-Nassr now lead Al-Ahli by two points in the Saudi Pro League rankings, while Al-Hilal are behind by three points. The former Real Madrid star’s fitness will be keenly watched before their upcoming games.

Although Cristiano Ronaldo’s inability to convert from the spot gave the club a rare window of vulnerability, the team’s ability to win even though he was out for the last few minutes indicates that the team is becoming more mature. They aim to win on several fronts this season.

Did Cristiano Ronaldo suffer any injury?

Will he play in the next game?
