The 40-year-old once again finished the season trophyless.
After hinting that his time with Al-Nassr, a Saudi Pro League team, could be coming to an end, Cristiano Ronaldo may be joining a new team this summer.
Ronaldo concluded the season with the Saudi Pro League’s Golden Boot on Monday night after scoring in Al-Nassr’s season-ending match.
However, Al-Nassr lost against Al-Fateh 3-2. Their third-place Saudi Pro League result means they will not be eligible to play in the AFC Champions League Elite next season.
Ronaldo posted a cryptic message on social media following the match that left his next destination uncertain, or whether he would even leave Al-Nassr this summer. Both Al Hilal and Al-Nassr have reportedly made offers to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Although the agreements are nearly agreed upon, CR7 is quite hesitant to stay. Al-Nassr’s proposal closes the suggestion that CR7 requested.
The 40-year-old Ronaldo seemed to imply that his future might be elsewhere after his side finished third in the Saudi Pro League behind Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal.
After being banished from Manchester United’s squad during his second stint due to a public dispute with Erik ten Hag, he joined the Saudi team at the beginning of 2023.
Even though he has scored 24 goals this season and ended as the Saudi Pro League’s top striker in both of the previous league campaigns, his club have not taken home any silverware.
Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, openly asserted recently that Ronaldo may play in the Club World Cup this summer, even if his team did not qualify.
Al Hilal are the only Saudi team scheduled to compete in the United States, while Ronaldo’s side was left out of the recently expanded 32-team competition.
By implying that Ronaldo might yet appear at the showcase and disclosing that “discussions” have occurred, Infantino aroused curiosity.
During one of the live streams of IShowSpeed, Infantino made an unexpected appearance and stated: ”Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup. There are discussions.”
According to other sources, Ronaldo is on the verge of agreeing to new conditions to remain in Saudi Arabia, even though his contract with Al-Nassr is slated to expire this summer.
