The Portuguese phenom names the best football player he has seen live.
When asked who the finest player he’s ever seen live is, Cristiano Ronaldo gave a surprising response post an interview with Piers Morgan.
Many people consider 39-year-old Ronaldo to be among the best football players in history. His five Ballon d’Or victories are evidence of his illustrious career and unwavering quest for greatness.
From the fans’ perspective, Ronaldo has been essential to the success of most of the teams he has played for in his career.
In addition to winning league titles with Juventus in Italy, Real Madrid in Spain, and Manchester United in England, the Portuguese was also successful with his national team when they won the European Championship in Paris, France, in 2016.
Cristiano Ronaldo is regarded by many as the greatest of all time (GOAT) due to his accomplishments. However, when the 39-year-old was present at a game, who most impressed him?
According to journalist and television personality Piers Morgan, in 2022, Ronaldo informed him in a private chat that Lionel Messi was the best player he had ever seen in person.
“I had a very interesting conversation with Cristiano, we had dinner after I first interviewed him three years ago, it was a really great conversation and I really like him as a person,” Morgan said on talkSPORT.
“He was incredibly respectful about Messi and I said to him, ‘Who’s the best player you’ve ever seen?’
“He said, ‘Messi, but you’re asking the wrong question, you’re not asking me who is the best player…’, because, of course, he has never seen himself play live.
“So, that made me laugh.
Messi and Ronaldo’s rivalry in football has been seen as one of the most entertaining rivalries between the two greatest football players. Both stars went to extreme levels to prove their greatness. Even today both get compared with each other by fans despite being in their late 30s.
Ronaldo, who presently plays for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, has added 13 goals in 15 league games this season, adding to his already incredible goal total. It appears like Ronaldo has no immediate plans to retire.
