The Portuguese striker has sustained a hamstring injury.

In about 100 days, Cristiano Ronaldo will play in his record sixth World Cup. As he continues to work towards the milestone of 1,000 career goals with Al Nassr, the 41-year-old attacker will also have his mind set to win the illustrious trophy with Portugal.

Portugal will play two friendlies against co-hosts Mexico and the USA in the United States in March as part of their final campaign preparations. However, Cristiano Ronaldo’s involvement in those games is now questionable.

Al-Nassr confirm Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury

On Saturday, February 28, he was substituted in the 81st minute of Al Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al Fayha in the Saudi Pro League due to a possible injury.

Al-Nassr now have finally released a statement regarding their star player’s injury:

“Cristiano Ronaldo has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury after the last game against Al Fayha. He started a rehabilitation program and will be under evaluation day by day.”

How long Ronaldo could be ruled out for with hamstring injury?

How long Ronaldo will be sidelined is still unknown, as the club has not confirmed how long he will be out. A grade one hamstring injury is a little pull or strain of the muscles that ought to recover in one to three weeks.

A partial tear of the muscle fibres is referred to as a grade two injury. Players who experience this could miss four to eight weeks of action.

A grade three hamstring injury is a total muscle tear that usually necessitates surgery and takes months to heal. According to the preliminary reports, Cristiano Ronaldo’s ailment is not as serious as a grade-three injury.
