The Portuguese forward has aged like a fine wine.
Today, February 5, marks the 40th birthday of one of the greatest football players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has disproved the myth that performance is determined by age. As he continues to dominate football with amazing figures, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been ageing like a fine wine.
CR7, who was born in Madeira, had to overcome many obstacles in his early years while working on the streets to provide for his family. He became the greatest goal scorer in football history by overcoming a number of challenges with his work ethic, perseverance, and mindset.
Sir Alex Ferguson was the manager of Manchester United when Cristiano Ronaldo had his big break. Before joining Real Madrid for the 2009–10 season, the Portuguese attacker won multiple trophies in England and also his first Ballon d’Or. At the Spanish capital, he became an all-time great by winning four Champions League crowns and additional trophies.
Ronaldo accomplished the unimaginable in 2016 as he led Portugal to Euro success by defeating France. However, his time at Madrid came to an end when he signed for Juventus in 2018, but his stint at the Serie A club didn’t last long as he left them in 2021 and rejoined Man Utd. But Ronaldo’s tenure was uneven as he couldn’t make enough influence and ended up leaving the club in an acrimonious way.
The seasoned football player is presently playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. Before he hangs up his football boots for good, Ronaldo is now focused on hitting the 1,000-goal mark. But as we celebrate his 40th birthday we take a look at his year-by-year statistics.
