The Czechs return to the World Cup after twenty years.
As they get ready to return to the big stage after a 20-year hiatus, Czechia have announced their provisional World Cup squad that mostly consists of veteran national team players, including West Ham star Tomas Soucek.
Tomas Chory, a striker for Slavia Prague, and David Doudera, a midfielder, are also on the list of 54 players. They both received red cards during the weekend derby, which was abandoned as fans invaded the field, and they were later expelled from the team.
The Czech Republic, led by 74-year-old Miroslav Koubek, the manager, will depart for a training camp in New Jersey to get ready for the tournament in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Koubek took over the national team and led the Czechs to their first World Cup appearance since 2006 after a shocking qualification defeat to the Faroe Islands.
On June 12, the Czechs take on South Korea in Group A to start their World Cup campaign. They will then play co-hosts Mexico and South Africa. Here is the Czechia preliminary squad for FIFA World Cup 2026:
