The former Manchester United midfielder finally got rid of the pain he suffered with England.
David Beckham had a ‘secret’ surgery to repair a broken bone that had been bothering him since he played for England 22 years ago.
Beckham participated in a friendly match against South Africa in 2003 while serving as captain of the Three Lions. Thabang Molefe’s challenge caused Beckham to stumble, and his right wrist was extensively wrapped up. Four minutes into the second half of a match in Durban, it was evident that he was not in a fit enough shape to continue.
He had to be substituted. After being brought to the hospital, Beckham was bandaged. Over time, a screw that was put into his forearm did not disintegrate completely.
The Manchester United icon, who now co-owns MLS team Inter Miami, has finally tried to have the problem rectified at the age of 50 by having surgery.
Victoria, Beckham’s wife, shared pictures of her husband in a hospital bed with the caption, “Get well soon, daddy.” Beckham was wearing a wristband that his kids had given him that had “get well soon” beads on it.
David Beckham once again started suffering pain and was forced to undergo surgery.
A source has told The Sun of Beckham’s latest visit to a medical facility:
“David had been in pain for years but thought nothing of it. He just kept going until, in recent months, it became quite unbearable. A routine scan showed that the pin which was meant to have dissolved, hadn’t – so he was booked in to finally resolve the issue all these years later. Victoria was at his bedside post op and all went well. He’s in great spirits.”
Beckham has already acknowledged that he suffered significant “wear and tear” to his body as a result of his illustrious playing career, which includes stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain.
He will be one of the eager spectators when Inter Miami play Champions League champions PSG in the FIFA Club World Cup last-16 on Sunday.
