Messi nearly restored Miami's lead before halftime, rattling the post and the crossbar, but the teams went into the break level at 1-1.

The hosts took the lead in the 59th minute when Maxi Moralez threaded a beautiful pass to Agustín Ojeda [59'], who calmly flipped it past Dayne St. Clair. However, the advantage lasted barely two minutes. In the 61st minute, Lionel Messi [61'] stepped up to take a free-kick.
