Denmark at UEFA Euro 2024: Full squad, preview, match schedule, venue, telecast info
The Danish side aims to rekindle Euro 1992 magic.
Denmark will be looking to better their surprise run to the semifinals at Euro 2020, where they showed tremendous resilience in the face of Christian Eriksen’s cardiac arrest during the opening game.
Christian Eriksen headlines the squad, as well as veterans like Kasper Schmeichel, Simon Kjaer, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. However, there are concerns about this ageing core having one more major tournament left in them.
Denmark’s struggle at the 2022 World Cup, where they failed to win a game, exposed some vulnerabilities. Their qualifying campaign was also unconvincing at times, suffering losses to Kazakhstan and Northern Ireland, and finishing second to Slovenia.
While players like Rasmus Højlund, Joachim Andersen, Mathias Jensen, Christian Norgaard and Mikkel Damsgaard provide youthful energy from the Premier League, the goalscoring burden may fall on emerging striker Rasmus Hojlund to provide a cutting-edge nation sometimes lacking.
Drawn into a difficult group alongside Slovenia, Serbia and the England side that dramatically eliminated them in 2021, Denmark face a challenging path to reach the knockout rounds.
