Tottenham‘s left-back Destiny Udogie miss the remainder of the 2023–2024 Premier League campaign after undergoing surgery. After his campaign came to an early end, the Italian international took to Instagram on Saturday night to post pictures of himself in a hospital mattress along with a message to Spurs supporters.
After returning from his loan stint with the Italian team Udinese, Udogie made his first appearance with the first team and quickly established himself as a vital member of Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs squad. The 21-year-old has made an impact in 30 games across all competitions for Tottenham this season, tallying three assists and two goals.
“The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord,” he wrote. “An injury brings my season to an early end. It doesn’t take away from how grateful I am to every person that has supported me this year.”
Tottenham and Postecoglou would be devastated to learn of Udogie’s season-ending injury, particularly as the squad is now battling Aston Villa for a top-four finish. The North London Derby, which takes place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, 28 April, is the matchup between Spurs and Arsenal.

Due to Destiny Udogie’s injury, Postecoglou will have to decide who will start at left-back when the Gunners go to North London the following weekend.
Ben Davies may return to the club in his typical position, while Emerson Royal, who has started on the left side a few times this season, is another candidate to start there.
Before the season ends, whoever takes Udogie’s spot in the starting lineup will have a respectable stint in the lineup. Spurs play Chelsea, Liverpool, Burnley, Man City, and Sheffield United after their match against Arsenal. They then play Newcastle United in a post-season match in Melbourne, Australia.
Udogie’s injury is not good news for Tottenham, who suffered a 4-0 loss to Newcastle last weekend. As a consequence, Spurs tumbled in the race for Champions League qualifying and are now three points behind Aston Villa in fourth position.
