It will be the first time both clubs will meet since Jota’s death.
The mascots will be accompanied by the sons of late forward Diogo Jota when the Portuguese player’s two previous teams, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool, play at Anfield on Saturday.
Two of Jota’s three kids, Dinis and Duarte, will be on the field with the matchday mascots before kickoff.
Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva, 25, died in a car accident in Spain in July. The Portugal winger spent three seasons with Wolves before joining Liverpool in 2020.
The two sides will play each other in the Premier League on Saturday for the first time since Jota’s passing.
Arne Slot talks about Jota & his family
Before Liverpool’s last home game of 2025, manager Arne Slot wrote in his program notes that he hoped Diogo Jota’s family could find “solace” in his affection.
“Reflecting on everything that has happened over the last 12 months ignites a rollercoaster of emotions but it is normal at this time of year to look back to everything that has happened,” said Slot.
“Doing so leads me to think especially of the family of Diogo Jota on what will be their first Christmas without him.”
“It is not my place to tell them where they should look for comfort – if that is even possible – but I can only hope that the feeling of love and affection that Diogo still generates brings them some solace.”
Jota, who had 65 goals in 182 games, helped Liverpool win the Premier League last season as well as the FA Cup and EFL Cup in 2022.
The attacker scored 44 goals in 131 games for Wolves after being with them since his season-long loan from Atletico Madrid in 2017.
