The doctor says that the Barcelona forward is not at his peak level, which is affecting his performance.

Due to an uncomfortable groin injury, FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal is reportedly only playing at half of his potential. According to Dr Pedro Luis Ripoll, the 18-year-old’s physical condition is significantly limiting his range of motion and shooting accuracy. The young player’s continuous struggle was made clear during Barcelona’s 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in Sunday’s El Clásico.

As he struggles with pubalgia, a chronic groin condition that has restricted his efficiency in recent weeks, the Barcelona star has been playing through severe discomfort. It is claimed that the problem, which results in chronic pain in the pubic area, has decreased the forward’s explosiveness and mobility, which usually characterise his style of play.

During Barca’s 2-1 loss at the Santiago Bernabeu, Lamine Yamal seemed unable to move freely and was hesitant to score. Medical professionals say that although pubalgia discomfort can vary in severity, it usually gets worse during intense games – exactly the type of games when Barcelona most needs Yamal’s inventiveness.

This month, his physical limits have become more apparent, raising concerns in the Barcelona and Spanish national team camps. According to reports, club doctors are closely monitoring his workload to prevent making the condition worse.

Renowned sports traumatologist Dr Pedro Luis Ripoll provided insight into Lamine Yamal’s physical challenges in an interview with El Larguero, characterising pubalgia as a “disabling” ailment that substantially impairs athletic ability.

“It is an injury that is frankly difficult to treat. It’s characterised by pain that reduces the player’s ability to move and shoot by almost 50%, which is exactly what we saw in El Clasico,” Dr. Ripoll explained.

“He hardly shoots at goal, he has difficulty moving, he constantly stretches… It’s a disabling pain that allows the player to participate in matches but keeps him from his best level and significantly diminishes his performance.”

Ripoll went on to explain that although there is no structural joint damage associated with the injury, improper management may cause it to take weeks or even months to heal completely. His evaluation supports the observations of some Barcelona fans that Yamal is still far from being in his best physical shape.
