Does Wayne Rooney really hate Cristiano Ronaldo? Man United legend reveals the truth

Rooney has cleared the air about him and Ronaldo.
With stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and other prestigious teams, Cristiano Ronaldo has shared the field with some of the greatest players in his career. He even played with Wayne Rooney, one of the greatest players England has ever produced, while he was at the Red Devils.
At the top, the two had a strong combination and scored several goals to help win the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. Rooney remained in Manchester for many years, even after Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid in 2009.
Rooney reveals his relationship with Ronaldo

Fans, however, think that Wayne Rooney despises Ronaldo in his later years. Speaking with Ronaldo’s former teammate on the podcast, Rio Ferdinand Presents, Rooney explained why supporters believed that. But he stated it was untrue.
“People think I hate him. I think he’s an absolute genius; what he’s doing is incredible. I don’t think people realise how close he and I were,” said Wayne Rooney.
The main debate among football fans during Cristiano Ronaldo’s time in Spain was about who was superior – Lionel Messi of Barcelona or Ronaldo of Real Madrid. This debate is still going strong and will be there for a long. Rooney claimed that supporters believe he despises Ronaldo because he has always supported Messi.
“Just because I’ve said Messi is better than Ronaldo, people think I don’t like Cristiano. What he’s doing to be honest, over the last couple of years, I’m thinking, ‘Do you know what?’, he’s probably gonna be the one when you look back, Cristiano, because he keeps going.”
The now-retired Rooney, a former head coach, explained his preference for Messi. He said that you cannot dispute the fact that they are both outstanding players, regardless of your position.
