Rashford has not featured for the Red Devils in the last six matches.
Borussia Dortmund Sporting director Sebastian Kehl has shared a major update on the rumours between the Bundesliga side and Manchester United star Marcus Rashford. According to the reports, the England star is looking for an exit from United and Dortmund have evolved into a potential destination.
Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has been a hot topic of speculation in recent weeks, with rumours intensifying since the January transfer window opened. The 27-year-old forward has been absent from United’s last six matches, with head coach Ruben Amorim opting not to include him in the squad.
Rashford also missed United’s recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool due to illness and was an unused substitute in the game against Newcastle before that. Notably, he had already been excluded from the previous four matchday squads, further fueling uncertainty about his role under Amorim.
“Of course, Borussia Dortmund is a very interesting club and of course, many players would get in touch with them. But we can not comment on any names right now. We need to wait to do something, perhaps we would do nothing,” said Sebastian Kehl speaking to Khel Now and media, when asked about the Marcus Rashford rumours.
Reports suggest that Marcus Rashford may be on the verge of a move away from Old Trafford. According to Sky Sports; Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Juventus have all expressed interest in securing the England international on loan for the remainder of the season. However, his agent has reportedly travelled to Italy to discuss a potential move with AC Milan.
On Dortmund’s plans in the January transfer window
On the back of Dortmund’s narrow 2-3 loss to Bayer Leverkusen today in the Bundesliga, Kehl, who has recently signed a two-year extension with the club shared that the Bundesliga outfit are not looking for some heavy reinforcements in the January transfer window.
“We are thinking about the situation, we can’t possibly replace seven players who are ill, and we are hoping the players will be back by Tuesday. But again of course the transfer market is open till 31st of January, we will have a clear eye on it and we will do something if it is absolutely necessary and makes sense,” said Kehl.
