Ecuador predicted lineup for Copa America 2024

Enner Valencia led Ecuador will look to win their first title.

Ecuador is set to participate in their 30th Copa America competition in the upcoming 2024 mega event. The tournament is set to happen in the USA, where 16 nations will fight in a month-long tournament across 14 venues to eventually decide the winners on July 14th.

Felix Sanchez-managed Ecuador side will look to turn the odds in their favour & claim the silverware for the first time in history as they set to battle out with Venezuela, Jamaica & Mexico in Group B. Ecuador finished their journey in the quarter-finals in Copa America 2021.

Let’s see how La Tri would lineup as they dream of clinching the coveted Copa America 2024:

Ecuador Predicted Lineup (Formation: 4:2:3:1):

GK: Alexander Dominguez

Veteran Alexander has captained the squad for several games in the recent past. The 37-year-old has been in & out of the national team since his debut in 2014. Though looking at the last few matches of the national team, it is expected that Dominguez would start. It was last in 2021 when he played a match which Ecuador lost.

LB: Piero Hincapie

The young Bayern Leverkusen defender is expected to be fielded as a left-back of Ecuador national football team. He was an integral part of the German champion’s domestic journey in 2023-24. He played in 26 Bundesliga & 12 Europa League games for Leverkusen this season. For Ecuador, he has been a regular since his arrival in 2021.

CB: Willian Pacho

Another young & solid 22-year-old Bundesliga defender, Pacho has gained traction with his consistency in Europe this season. He has played a total of 44 games for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023-24. The youngster has also played 11 goals for La Tri.

CB: Felix Torres

The 1.87m stopper is an absolute beast at the back. For Corinthians, he has featured in 46 games this season, scoring 5 goals.

He has been very effective for the national side recently. With 5 goals & 2 assists in 32 games, his international career is something to be proud of for a CB. He has been in top form in FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers too, making fans hope for a similar performance this Copa.

RB: Angelo Preciado

Preciado playing in the Right-back position can be a game-changer for Felix’s side. His ability to move upfront & act as a winger will add high value to the team’s attacking chances. To date, he has played in 38 games for Ecuador. He has been a regular since FIFA World Cup 2022.

CDM: Joao Ortiz

The 28-year-old is expected to play as a defensive midfielder for Ecuador in this Copa America. He has had a decent 2023-24 season with his club & has featured in most of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers for Ecuador. He also hails the ability to switch positions with RB, CAM & right-wing.

CDM: Moises Caicedo

Probably the biggest star of the squad, Caicedo is an automatic choice in the squad. The CDM’s performance will be too crucial for the nation’s success in this tournament. 

The youngster has played an important role in EPL giant Chelsea’s 2023-24 season. The high-profile youngster has already played in 41 games for Ecuador, scoring three goals & providing seven assists.

CAM: Jeremy Sarmiento

The left-winger has a habit of offending the opponent’s defense line. Sarmiento has scored six goals & provided 2 assists for Brighton this season. He has also played in 16 games for Ecuador since his debut in 2021 before playing in the junior ranks of England.

CAM: Kendry Paez 

One of the most sensational youngsters to play in Copa America 2024, Paez is a promising & lethal prospect with an acute hunger for goals. In 19 matches for Independiente, he has scored five goals & provided an equal number of assists. At only 17 years of age, he has represented Ecuador eight times, scoring 1 goal.

CAM: John Yeboah

Another young attacking midfielder, Yeboah is the perfect partner to ally Paez & Sarmiento. Together this attacking midfield can produce shocks to major sides. He has recently marked his debut for the national team, scoring 2 goals in just games.

ST: Enner Valencia

A veteran center-forward, Valencia has featured in 14 games for his club in 2024, scoring 6 goals & providing three assists. His contribution to the national team to date is unimaginable. In 85 games, he has scored 41 goals & provided a dozen assists.
