La Tri are yet to announce their World Cup squad.
Ecuador are participating in the FIFA World Cup for just the fifth time overall and for the second time in a row. They’ll also be expecting to do better than they did four years ago.
Despite taking four points from their three games, La Tri was unable to advance from their group in Qatar. Ecuador have actually only advanced past the group stage once, in 2006.
Ecuador had a fantastic 2026 qualifying campaign. They achieved their best result since the 2002 qualifying cycle, coming in second only to 2022 World Cup winners Argentina.

La Tri’s campaign gained momentum as it progressed. It includes notable victories at home against Argentina and away against Colombia, as well as a draw at home against Brazil.
Ecuador finished with eight victories and 29 points overall, losing the fewest games (two) of any CONMEBOL team. At the 2026 World Cup, Ecuador will play Germany, the Ivory Coast, and Curacao.
