Egypt vs Morocco Predicted lineup, betting tips, odds, injury news, H2H, telecast | Men's football at Paris Olympics 2024
Both teams have a shot at going home with a Bronze medal.
Morocco entered their semifinal matchup with Spain full of confidence, having defeated Argentina in Group B and then thrashed the US in the quarterfinals to secure a spot in the semi-final.
But the Atlas Lions’ incredible run came to an end at Stade Velodrome. A second-half Spanish comeback destroyed their dreams even though primary striker Soufiane Rahimi scored from the penalty spot. Morocco lost 2-1 as a result.
Barcelona star Fermin Lopez’s beautiful strike from outside the box brought Spain into the game. As the clock was ticking, Juanlu Sanchez found the back of the net in injury time shattering the hearts of many Moroccan fans in the stadium.
Egypt’s hopes of winning a football gold at the Olympic Games were preserved when they scored a late equaliser and eliminated Paraguay in the quarterfinals. This had set up a semi-final matchup with the competition hosts on Monday.
Though leading with ten minutes remaining, France rallied to win 3-1 in extra time in Lyon. All thanks to two goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta, denying the Pharaohs a spot in the final game.
The Crystal Palace striker put Les Bleus ahead after Omar Fayed was sent off for a second bookable offence. Michael Olise subsequently added some gloss to the final result.
