England fail to secure last 16 spot after 1-1 draw with Denmark in Euro 2024

The Three Lions struggled to win the game throughout.
Despite starting the competition as the favourites, England are going to wait to formally secure their berth in the knockout stage after Denmark battled Euro 2024 favourites to a 1-1 draw on Thursday.
After a deflected cross from Kyle Walker, Harry Kane started the score in the eighteenth minute, marking his record-breaking 13th major event goal for his nation.
But Morten Hjulmand’s first international goal, one of the tournament’s outstanding goals, gave Denmark an equaliser in the 34th minute. At over 24 yards from goal, it represented the tournament’s biggest goal.
The team captained by Gareth Southgate faced intense pressure until halftime, but they managed to maintain parity in the score.
Phil Foden struck the crossbar in the second half as England had to settle for a draw after failing to find a winner. Their destiny is still up in the air because they need to beat Slovenia in their last game to go to the next round.
With one game remaining, England leads group C, which is a promising development. However, they would come in third if they lost to Slovenia and Denmark defeated Serbia.

Kyle Walker’s verdict on England draw: ”It’s tournament football. This is a good Denmark team. We’re top of the group so let’s try and take a positive from this game – we didn’t lose, we conceded a great strike, and sometimes you have to take your hat off. We’re top of the group, let’s move onto the next game.”
(Why weren’t you getting forward so much in the second half?) It’s the game. They had the upper hand at times and you have to be aware of that. As a defender you’re always thinking, ‘What if?’ If I charge forward and then they score, suddenly we’re being blamed as a defence for not being in position.”
