The Three Lions will face Slovenia in their last group stage game of the Euro 2024

Group C of the Euro 2024 has many possible outcomes. England are top of the group with 4 points, Denmark and Slovenia are below England with 2 points each and Serbia are last with a point. The third match of the group stage will decide the fate of the four teams.

England have a great chance to qualify for the Round Of 16 since they are top of the table with four points. England manager Gareth Southgate is expected to make some changes after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Denmark in the previous group stage match.

Let’s take a look at England’s predicted line-up for their clash against Slovenia.

England’s Predicted Line-up: (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford

Pickford did not have much to do in England’s previous group stage clash against Denmark. Pickford did make some straightforward saves against Denmark and a good save against Dusan Vlahovic in their first group stage match against Serbia

Since Jordan made some routine saves in both of England’s group stage matches, he is likely to start again against Slovenia.

LB: Kieran Trippier

The Newcastle defender has shown on various occasions that he has the attacking as well as defensive quality. Kieran Trippier did this quite well putting in a great performance in the Euro 2021 final against Italy. He even assisted Luke Shaw’s goal in the final.

Much of Kieran’s attacking abilities are yet to be seen at the tournament since he is underperforming. Since Gareth Southgate does not have any other left-backs available and with Luke Shaw injured, Kieran has another chance to showcase his great abilities in a crucial game for England.

CB: John Stones

One of the most underrated, consistent and brilliant players in Pep Guardiola’s system. John Stones has flourished under Pep Guardiola as a centre-Back and surprisingly as a midfielder as well on some occasions.

This makes him an invaluable asset for England since he is a ball carrying centre-Back. His ability to carry the ball forward, contribute to England’s attack and be resolute and solid in defence implies makes him a good centre-Back.

CB: Marc Guehi

England have had quite a disappointing start to the Euro 2024 tournament. A not so convincing win against Serbia and a draw against Denmark has put them in a situation where they have to put their best efforts to win against Slovenia.

However, Marc Guehi has been England’s best player in defence for both of the group stage games. Guehi did an excellent job at keeping Mitrovic quiet in the first game against Serbia.

RB: Kyle Walker

Walker absolutely utilises his pace and stamina to the fullest. Kyle Walker is one of the fastest football players in the world. Walker used this to his advantage and made darting runs and contributed to both goals against Serbia and Denmark. Walker guards the right flank properly as well and is a difficult player to dribble past.

CDM: Declan Rice

Rice has been far off from his usual standards and levels in the first two Euro 2024 games. Declan Rice’s quick passing, bursting runs into the midfield, disrupting the play of opposition teams make him a great central defensive midfielder.

Rice has not been able to showcase these abilities consistently and is likely to get another chance against Slovenia.

CDM: Conor Gallagher

Gallagher is a very versatile player having played at different positions for Chelsea. Trent Alexander Arnold finally got his chance to play in a midfield position at the Euro 2024. However this experiment has not turned out to be fruitful yet and as a result, Conor Gallagher can take his place as a CDM against Slovenia.

LW: Anthony Gordon

The Newcastle youngster is yet to play for England at the Euro 2024. Phil Foden seems to be off of his game especially at the left-wing which may potentially give Anthony Gordon a chance.

Anthony Gordon can cut in well from the left-wing using his pace and can create a goalscoring chance, assist or even score. His tremendous work-rate can help England retain the ball and retrieve it back on numerous occasions.

CAM: Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid‘s midfield maestro put in a solid performance against Serbia in England’s opening group stage game at the Euro 2024. Bellingham scored a crucial goal and played some sumptuous and incisive passes as well.

Bellingham was arguably England’s best player against Serbia but unfortunately had a disappointing game against Denmark. Bellingham is expected to perform like he did against Serbia since England need a crucial win against Slovenia.

RW: Bukayo Saka

Arguably one of the best wingers in England’s national team right now. Bukayo Saka does not hesitate to take on his opponents and dribble past them. He did this on numerous occasions against Serbia and Denmark playing a role in the goals scored. His ability to take on players, provide crosses and use his pace makes him a great asset on the right flank.

ST: Harry Kane

Kane is England’s man in the box, their poacher. Harry Kane has a lot more to offer besides just hovering around the box. Kane plays from a deeper position and helps contribute the play forward with his incredible passing range. Harry Kane’s best asset is his clinical ability to score goals. He did this well scoring a goal against Denmark in a crucial situation that arose out of the blue.
