Many big names have been left out of the squad.

Maguire is not included in Tuchel’s 26-man England World Cup roster, which the manager announced on Friday. Phil Foden of Manchester City and Cole Palmer of Chelsea have also been left out, while Luke Shaw of Manchester United and Lewis Hall of Newcastle are omitted as well.

Harry Maguire claims he was “shocked and gutted” about being left out of England’s World Cup team by Thomas Tuchel, while Ivan Toney has received an unexpected recall.

Nottingham Forest’s in-form Morgan Gibbs-White has also been overlooked, despite an impressive season with Forest. Toney’s inclusion is unexpected because the Al-Ahli striker hasn’t been in the team since last June and has only played three minutes under Tuchel. Alongside captain Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins Toney will complete the centre-forward unit.

Tuchel’s centre-backs will be Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Jarell Quansah, Dan Burn, and John Stones. Although Tino Livramento missed the final month of the season due to injury at Newcastle, Nico O’Reilly is expected to start at left back.

England’s midfield foursome consists of Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Jordan Henderson, and Kobbie Mainoo. Despite giving some better performances for Pep Guardiola in recent weeks, Foden has been the surprise omission from the roster alongside Cole Palmer, who netted a goal in the Euro 2024 final.
