England starting lineup vs Panama confirmed as Harry Kane named for FIFA World Cup 2026 match

Panama lost to England 6-1 in their last FIFA World Cup match in 2018.

England are all set to face Panama in their last group stage game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match will be played at the New York-New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford on Saturday, June 28. The two teams are situated in Group L of the summer competition alongside Croatia and Ghana.

The Three Lions are currently leading the group with four points after two games. Their first win of the competition came against Croatia on Day 1. In a replay of the 2028 FIFA World Cup semi-final, the 1966 champions outclassed Vatreni, with the final scoreline reading 4-2. Harry Kane scored twice, while Marcus Rashford also scored coming off the bench.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s men drew criticism in their second match after playing out a goalless draw against Ghana. England were desperate to break the deadlock against the Black Stars; however, nothing in their arsenal seemed to work. They took 19 shots and maintained 78 per cent possession, without a single goal.

Nevertheless, with one of the best squads in the tournament, the Three Lions are expected to keep marching forward and finish first in Group L with a win over Panama.

Thoughts on the lineup

Thomas Tuchel’s side faced a huge blow as Reece James has been ruled out for England’s last game of the group stage. At his place, Jarell Quansah will start, while Nick O’Reilly will play as the other fullback.

Marc Guehi and Eric Konsa will form the centre-back duo, while Morgan Rogers, Anderson and Jude Bellingham will continue to play in midfield, with a focus on controlling possession. Declan Rice will miss the game.

Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford will be on the wings, while Bayern Munich star Harry Kane will play as the frontman for Tuchel’s side.
