England star Tino Livramento ruled out of FIFA World Cup 2026; Chalobah named as replacement

England’s time in the US has already been shaky before the start of their FIFA World Cup campaign.

England has entered the FIFA World Cup 2026 as one of the hot favourites, thanks to captain Harry Kane’s scorching form and the team’s depth. They will start their campaign against Croatia on Wednesday, June 17, at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington.

However, before the Three Lions could play their first game, they had already seen a lot of drama in the United States. The side witnesses a theft of approximately $18,000 (£13,500) worth of equipment from a vehicle transporting gear in the USA.

The incident occurred while they were shifting. between two different training locations. Two individuals have also been charged with the same. From personal gear to official team merchandise, a lot of items were stolen.

Nevertheless, after the theft, Thomas Tuchel’s side has suffered another blow, with one of its young stars ruled out of the tournament. Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento has been ruled out of the FIFA World Cup 2026 before the Three Lions could have played their first game.

Tino Livramento gets ruled out of England’s FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign

Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento has been ruled out of the FIFA World Cup 2026 before England’s opening game against Croatia. The 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury. Livramento enjoyed a breakthrough season with Newcastle United in the 2025/26 campaign.

He made 26 appearances across all competitions despite suffering from multiple injuries. However, he also missed 25 games. Despite being injury-prone, the 23-year-old was called to play for the Three Lions by German technician Thomas Tuchel.

The Newcastle United defender has six international caps in his kitty, as he made his debut under Lee Carsley in November 2024.

Nevertheless, Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has been named as Tino Livramento’s replacement for the remainder of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Chalobah has played only one game for England, and that was during the side’s 3-1 defeat against Senegal a year ago. Last season, Chalobah made 47 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit across all competitions, helping the side keep 12 clean sheets and score three goals.
