England are taking on Costa Rica in their final FIFA World Cup 2026 warm-up friendly in Orlando on Wednesday.

England’s final FIFA World Cup 2026 warm-up friendly match against Costa Rica at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, was delayed due to a storm. The match was supposed to kick off on Wednesday night, but the Three Lions posted an update on their social media accounts that the start has been delayed.

“Today’s game against Costa Rica has been delayed due to weather conditions in Orlando,” the England football X account posted. “We’ll provide further updates as soon as we have them.”

According to local media reports, there was heavy rainfall and thunder strikes in the region, leading officials to initially delay kick-off by 20 minutes. The pitch was completely waterlogged, with several parts underwater. With the England vs Costa Rica match delayed due to sustained rainfall, the Inter&Co Stadium’s Facebook page asked the fans “to seek shelter in the concourse”.

The upcoming match is important for Thomas Tuchel’s England national team as they look to build winning momentum ahead of their FIFA World Cup 2026 opener against Croatia on June 17.
