England finished Group C as the dominant side after remaining unbeaten throughout the stage. The Three Lions however were not at their best as they failed to maintain consistency.

Gareth Southgate’s team scored just two goals in the group stage, which is shocking compared to the quality of players they have in their squad. The lack of a natural left-back coupled with a change of midfield players has played a part in their demise. However, they are still the team to beat after finishing runner-up in the previous edition. 

Slovakia will be the underdogs against the Three Lions after finishing third in Group E consisting of Belgium, Romania and Ukraine. All these four teams were level on points but due to a better goal difference, they moved above Ukraine and secured their passage.

Francesco Calzona’s team started the Euro 2024 tournament in brilliant form as they pulled off a historic win over Belgium to cause an early setback. However, you cannot count them out after they defeated Belgium.

Harry Kane (England) 

Harry Kane had a record-breaking season with Bayern Munich after netting 44 goals in 45 matches while also providing 12 assists. These numbers are mind-blowing for a footballer but don’t faze him as he has been doing it over the years. The same cannot be said of him on the national side after he managed to score just one goal in the group stage. However, you cannot rule him out for this knockout stage as he could be deadly in these types of situations. 

Ivan Schranz (Slovakia) 

The Slavia Prague man has been outstanding for Slovakia in the opening matches after netting two goals in three matches to help them seal a place in the last 16. Schranz netted the winner against Belgium in the opening match to seal a historic victory. He continued that run with a well-taken goal in the second match despite losing the game. His versatility to play several positions makes him a standout player for the team.
