England vs Slovenia: All-time head-to-head record | Euro 2024
The Three Lions have not lived up to expectations in Euro 2024 so far.
With England’s opening Group C match against Serbia and their match against Denmark on June 20, there was a glaring difference. Against the former, the Three Lions did not suffer for their inaction after taking the lead, but they weren’t going to get away with playing so poorly again.
Harry Kane scored in his fourth consecutive major competition for his country under the covered Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, where the pitch was far from ideal. However, a disorganised England team ultimately conceded from a 25-yard Morten Hjulmand rocket later in the first half.
But with just two victories in seven games, Slovenia should be looking at things more optimistically heading into Tuesday’s crucial encounter, where the former Yugoslavia country hopes to make it to the finals of the Euros for the sixth time.
In their matchday two match against Serbia, right-back Zan Karnicnik came to the back stick to tap home in front of a jubilant wall of white, bringing Matjaz Kek’s team within a few seconds of accomplishing that feat. However, in the fifth minute of added time, Luka Jovic’s header broke Slovenia’s hearts.
After tasting their own medicine, Kek’s team waited until the very end to respond, drawing 1-1 with Denmark in their first match. Now they face England and a win will see them create history.
