A few big stars are doubtful for the Brentford game.

Ahead of the Premier League 2025-26 Matchday 4, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that Cole Palmer will take a final fitness test before making a potential comeback from injury against Brentford on Saturday.

Palmer was seen in several training images released by Chelsea earlier this week, although he was unable to play the last two Chelsea games due to a groin issue that also forced him to miss England’s international matches.

Cole Palmer’s return appears impending, according to an Instagram photo in the lead-up to the game that was titled with the brief update “soon back.” However, Enzo Maresca stressed that no decision has been made about the midfielder’s inclusion as of yet.

“Cole took part in the session yesterday for the first time, not the entire session. We have one more session this afternoon, and we are going to try with him to see if he’s OK. Otherwise, he will be out tomorrow. He is recovering from an injury – it’s not managing him. When he is available, we need to manage him because of the amount of games.”

Chelsea boss provides an update on South American stars

Chelsea’s South American group is the only source of more scepticism. Maresca acknowledged there are “question marks” over the Brazilian trio of João Pedro, Andrey Santos, and Estêvão. Moisés Caicedo, who returned late from Ecuador duty, will also undergo a fitness check.

“The three Brazilian players (João Pedro, Estêvão, Andrey Santos) arrived yesterday but didn’t train. Moi (Caicedo) arrived last night – I didn’t see him – I will see him today. For all of them, it is a question mark for tomorrow. When they play in Bolivia, it’s difficult. Hopefully, they can be back soon.”
