The Norwegian striker has been relentlessly scoring goals in the Premier League since joining City.

Ever since coming to the Premier League from Borussia Dortmund, many believed Erling Haaland would need several seasons to adapt to one of Europe’s toughest leagues.

But guess what? In just his first season, the Norwegian striker set unprecedented records with his extraordinary goalscoring prowess. He even won a treble with Manchester City.

Moreover, the striker has continued in the same vein despite Man City struggling for consistency. He is now projected to break Alan Shearer’s record (260 PL goals) with a handsome 389 Premier League goals.

Every season, the former Dortmund centre-forward has continued to improve his finishing quality. Even this season, he has impressively reached big numbers already. Haaland boasts 18 goals in 11 games for club and country this season, taking him to 37 goals for the calendar year.

With 22 matches still to play this year, the sensational striker is expected to finish 2025 on a career-high total of 57, surpassing his previous highest total of 50 as he continues to set a massive scoring standard in the league.

He also made history in the UEFA Champions League this season by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals in 49 games, beating Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of 62 games, followed by Lionel Messi with who reached this feat in 66 UCL games.

Meanwhile, the competition’s top scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, with 140 goals, needed 91 games to reach 50 goals in the competition.

When is Haaland expected to break Alan Shearer’s PL record?

A similar pattern has been seen in the Premier League. After his strike against Brentford, Haaland has taken his PL goals tally to 94 goals in 104 appearances. He is on the cusp of becoming the fastest player in league history to register 100 goals.

Alan Shearer needed 125 games to achieve that milestone. Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, Thierry Henry and Mohamed Salah are among the fastest players to reach the landmark behind Shearer.

Haaland’s rapid scoring pace puts him in a league of his own. With nine years on his contract and having turned 25 in July, he is destined to break every Premier League record.

Moreover, if he continues scoring at this rate, he is projected to break Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals in September 2030.

If he is to remain until the end of his contract (2034) at City, it is believed he will reach a monumental total of 389 Premier League goals. It’s also important to note that, barring any serious injuries, the striker will reach that record faster given the extraordinary rate at which he continues to score.
