Who are the Euro 2024 dark-horses?
The Checkered Ones once again will be ready to go deep into the tournament.
We can practically taste it since it’s so close. With only a few days to go until Euro 2024, Germany will host the top players from the continent for what looks to be an incredible summer of football.
While some teams’ only goal is to get out of their groups, others understand that anything less than a mid-July trophy ceremony will be considered a defeat. So, get ready for four weeks of intense drama that will be equal parts of heartbreak and joy.
Here are our predictions for the dark-horses at the competition:
3. Ukraine
In light of the current crisis in their country, Ukraine will have the support of the neutrals on their Euro journey in Germany. The team have enough talent to pose a significant threat as well.
Artem Dobvyk, LaLiga’s leading scorer in the recently-concluded 2023-24 season, Georgiy Sudakov and Mykhailo Mudryk are all outstanding players on their day. Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mikola Shaparenko and Viktor Tsygankov also provide a combination of skill and experience.
2. Austria
Austria might just end up being the tournament’s surprise package. They’re playing some amazing football under Ralf Rangnick, as evidenced by their 6-1 annihilation of Turkey in March, despite the unfavourable draw.
While Ukraine qualified through the playoffs and have every possibility of emerging from a weak Group E, Austria may not win the Euros, but they are a team to watch for their unparalleled perseverance.

1. Croatia
40-1 odds are available for Croatia to win the competition, which seems too high for a nation that placed third at the World Cup just 18 months prior. Although Luka Modric maybe their greatest player ever, they are nearing the conclusion of a cycle.
They still have plenty of quality besides him in Zlatko Dalic’s side and perhaps more importantly, an amazing ability to regularly punch above their weight. Although it will be difficult, they will feel confident about their chances if they can escape Group B.
