Euro 2024: Top six players with most assists

These players made the work of scoring goals easier for their teammates.

As the Euro 2024 comes close to its business end, Spain have made it to the final and in fine fashion. La Roja became the first team in the Euros to win six games in a row and reach the final of the tournament.

Playmaking is certainly one of the most difficult skills in football. Being able to create regular chances for the team makes that player very special. Assists reflect a player’s ability to create goal-scoring opportunities for their teammates by providing them with accurate passes, cross or through balls.

A player with a high number of assists is often seen as a key player in their team’s attacking play as they can unlock defences and create chances out of nothing. In Euro 2024, we have seen players who have provided assists to their teammates again and again. Players like Joshua Kimmich, Michel Aebischer, Orkun Kokcu and Remo Freuler all have two assists to their name even though their teams are out of the tournament but still, their impact on their respective teams was massive.

6. Dennis Man – 2 assists

Dennis Man is known for his versatility as he can play as a winger as well as a centre-forward. He has all the qualities of a top player. He provided two assists in this Euro 2024. Unfortunately, Romania, his national side got eliminated in the Round of 16 by Netherlands where they lost the game by 3-0.

Man has good technical ability, physical power, work rate and mental toughness. He is a complete package and for sure he did have an impact on his team.

5. Fabian Ruiz – 2 assists

Fabian Ruiz is known for his vision, passing, ball control and dribbling skills as well as tactical versatility. He is one of the best players for La Roja in this tournament as his performance in every match is exceptional. The way he can beat the opponents and keep the ball is simply brilliant.

Ruiz is always very cool, calm and composed under pressure and he is one of the reasons for Spain‘s brilliant midfield performance in Euro 2024. He provided two assists in the matches he played till now and his role and performance will be very crucial for the final.

4. Dani Olmo – 2 assists

Dani Olmo is probably the best player of this tournament as he has scored three goals and provided two assists till now. His impact on the pitch has always made a difference for La Roja in Euro 2024 matches. He is very good at winning one versus one battle and creates a chance out of nothing.

Due to his agility, he can get past defenders very smoothly and is always a big threat to the opposition. He is very composed in front of the goal and likes to score from his strong foot only.

3. Arda Guler – 2 assists

Arda Guler’s most extraordinary attribute lies in his dribbling ability, he effortlessly takes on multiple defenders employing unpredictable movements that make him a big threat to the opposition. He consistently delivers precise passes be it short or long and his footwork is really good as he can control the ball very easily.

Guler also scored a goal for his national team in the tournament and provided two assists. His performance was really good in the matches he played. Even though Turkey are out of the Euro 2024 tournament, his performance made a big impact on his team.

2. Xavi Simons – 3 assists

Xavi Simons loves to dribble and take on players, boasting an explosive pace and changing direction quickly which allows him to escape defenders. He shields the ball when dribbling to retain possession and then quickly accelerates to get away from defenders. Simons has plenty of flair and unpredictability which makes him very lethal upfront. He is having a great Euro 2024 tournament and has helped the Dutch team to reach the semifinal where they will face England.

1. Lamine Yamal – 3 assists

Currently, the Spanish winger is top in this list and not many people expected Lamine Yamal to perform this well in this tournament. For someone that young to be even playing at the Euros is extraordinary in itself but to be playing such a starring role in a team that is doing so well is simply outstanding.

He also became the youngest goalscorer in Euro’s history when he scored a goal against France in the semifinal from outside the box and also became the man of the match. His consistency at the highest level at such a young age makes him a very special talent.
