Euro 2024: Two LaLiga referees dismissed from duty for rest of competition

Both referees made controversial decisions during the game
Four of the five Spanish officials who have officiated matches in the competition will not be present for the last round of the Euro Cup, which begins on Saturday with the first two rounds of 16 matchups.
UEFA has made the decision to part ways with Alejandro Hernández Hernández as the VAR referee, Jesús Gil Manzano as the field referee, and his two assistance referees, Diego Barbero Sevilla and Ángel Nevado Rodríguez.
They were all central figures in the encounter between Austria and France on the opening day. The French team scored the game-winning goal (Max Wöber’s own goal) in the following play when goalkeeper Maignan served from the goal after losing in a play where a goal kick was received in favour of France but which should have ended in a corner.
The Austrian team took offence at that judgement because they felt that they had been wronged in a play where it was obvious that the French custodian had deflected the ball following a shot by Christoph Baumgartner. Furthermore, both clubs expressed dissatisfaction with his refereeing.
France was particularly dissatisfied with the officiating work of the Spanish official, believing that the Austrian squad had played a very rough game up to that point, making it the match with the highest number of fouls called throughout the tournament (24).
Austria recognised that the number of yellow cards displayed—five overall—was disproportionate in comparison to the French team’s two.
Spain deployed two VAR officials, Alejandro Hernández Hernández and Juan Martínez Munuera, to the European event in alongside Gil Manzano, who served as the field referee. After his actions in the third-day match between Scotland and Hungary, UEFA also contemplated parting ways with the previous referee, thus the latter will be the only member of the Spanish team remaining in the Euro Cup.
