Both sides will again meet in the Euro finals.

Luis de la Fuente’s Spain and Gareth Southgate’s England are set to lock horns in the Euro 2024 final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 15 to get their hands on the coveted trophy.

Spain had finished the group stage phase as Group B table-toppers, beating the likes of defending champions Italy, Croatia, and Albania in the process, with an impeccable record of three wins, three clean sheets, nine points, and five goals scored.

During the decisive knockout stages, Spain recorded a convincing 4-1 comeback win against tournament debutants Georgia in the round of 16. This was followed by a thrilling 2-1 win against hosts Germany in extra time, courtesy of super sub-Mikel Merino’s last-ditch winner, in an enthralling quarterfinal clash between the two top nations.

In the semifinal stage, La Roja toppled France to complete a 2-1 comeback win courtesy of quick-fire goals from Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo to book their place in the grand finale.

In a young and talented La Roja squad, players such as Marc Cucurella, Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams, Dani Olmo, and Lamine Yamal have been standout performers throughout the tournament.

On the other hand, England had finished the group stage phase as Group C table-toppers, beating the likes of Serbia and getting draws against Denmark and Slovenia in the process, with an unbeaten record of one win, two draws, two clean sheets, five points, two goals scored, and just a single goal conceded.

This was followed by a thrilling 1-1 (5-3) penalty shootout win against dark horse Switzerland in a nerve-wracking quarterfinal contest.

In the semifinal stage, the Three Lions toppled the Netherlands to complete a 2-1 comeback win, all thanks to super sub-Ollie Watkins’ last-minute winner to book their place in the grand finale.

Historically, Spain has enjoyed a fruitful record against England in their various meetings across international competitions.

The recent encounters between these top nations took place during the 2018-19 Nations League on two occasions. Their first contest was a group stage game where England initially took the lead through Marcus Rashford but were soon pegged back through close-range finishes from Saul Niguez and Rodrigo, as Spain recorded a 2-1 win in Wembley.

However, in the reverse fixture, the Three Lions avenged their previous meeting loss by registering a stunning 3-2 win in Seville courtesy of first-half goals from Raheem Sterling (x2) and Marcus Rashford.
