DFB-Elf are the host of the UEFA Euro 2024

The 2024 European Championship is nearing the finishing line of the group stage fixtures. We have already had so many surprises and unexpected results and there’s more to follow. While eight teams have completed their group stage leg, 16 other teams are yet to do so. One out of those eight teams is 2014 World Champions and title favourites Germany.

Die Mannschaft have had an incredible tournament so far and have cleared their intentions with a strong and clear message across the tournament. The hosts began their journey with a statement 5-1 victory over Scotland in the opening game. They continued their good run of form and defeated Hungary 2-0.

In their final game, Switzerland gave them a tough fight. The Swiss scored the first goal and took the lead and just when it seemed they would become the first team to beat the home side, Niclas Fullkrug took matters into his own hands and scored a 92nd minute equalizer to salvage a point for his side.

Germany’s potential RO16 opponent

With the group stage fixtures done and dusted, Germany will now shift its focus to their first knockout game. They will play their RO16 clash at the BVB stadium in Dortmund on June 29. Their opposition is yet to be decided. Germany will play against the second-placed team from Group C.

England, Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia form Group C. While England sit at the top of the table with four points to their name, Denmark and Slovenia are placed second and third with two points each. Serbia find themselves in the fourth position with one point to their name. Germany can play either of the four teams depending on the outcome of their remaining matches.

If England lose to Slovenia and Serbia defeats Denmark, Germany will face off against Slovenia. Just in case, England defeats Slovenia and Denmark defeats Serbia, Germany will lock horns with Denmark. And if England defeats Slovenia and Serbia defeats Denmark by a goal margin, Serbia will be the team that Germany will face off against.
