England were the runners-up in Euro 2020

Following their 1-0 defeat to Iceland things looked bleak given England one of the favourites to win the Euro 2024 enter the tournament on the back of a defeat which isn’t a good sign for the front-runners.

On Friday, Germany, the hosts, stunned Scotland in their inaugural match in Munich. Spain also looked impressive in the first half of their match against Croatia.

Now, the focus shifts to another of the continent’s superpowers as England look to defeat Serbia in Gelsenkirchen to start their Group C campaign.

Harry Kane set to lead England’s attacking line vs Serbia

As captain, Kane will guide the group ahead. After joining Bayern Munich in their inaugural domestic season, during which the all-time record goalscorer for England scored 44 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.

When you consider the goals and assists scored by players like Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, and Bukayo Saka, it is clear that Gareth Southgate has an absurd amount of attacking talent. But Kane will lead the No.9 line as he is one of the most trustable players of Southgate

In their first game, thousands of supporters will travel to Gelsenkirchen in western Germany to support England.

The Three Lions captain, Gareth Southgate, maintains that winning the Henri Delaunay trophy on July 14 will be the sole indication that his team’s journey to put an end to 58 years of suffering in Gelsenkirchen has been successful.

When England lost to Italy on penalties in the postponed Euro 2020 final three years ago, they came the closest to breaking their drought, and Kane thinks this team is headed in the right path.

Four years after reaching the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the Three Lions were eliminated from the World Cup in the quarterfinals by France in Qatar, following that close call in the Wembley final in Euro 2020.
