Petit, a former Chelsea and Arsenal player, has accused Mbappe of “filling the Real Madrid dressing room with selfishness.” The harsh criticism follows the Spanish team’s shocking Champions League quarterfinal loss to Bayern Munich, which has led to a moment of intense introspection at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The former footballer, who currently serves as a pundit for the French channel RMC, was frank in his criticism of his compatriot. According to Petit, the World Cup winner’s presence has negatively changed the team dynamic.
“It’s not solely Mbappe’s fault. But his arrival filled the Real Madrid dressing room with selfishness. It’s a fiasco.”
Petit cited Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe’s previous club, as an example of a team that has improved by eschewing the individualistic attitude he identifies with the forward.
When analysing Madrid’s present problems, the pundit was quick to point out that the Parisian team has appeared more unified since Kylian Mbappe’s departure in 2024.
