Piastri is an Australian racing driver who competes in Formula One for McLaren.
Oscar Piastri, the current leader of the F1 Drivers’ Championship, has won five races thus far, suggesting that he possesses the clutch gene. Ironically, perhaps a lot different from his favourite club.
The McLaren driver acknowledged that Arsenal were his preferred club, the one he supports in the Premier League and that he was a “gooner” by default.
This season, the young Australian has swept the Formula One world by storm. He has already amassed 216 points and is currently 15 points ahead of his colleague Lando Norris.
Again, not quite similar to his favourite club.
In an interview with BBC Sport, Piastri disclosed that his girlfriend had convinced him to support the Mikel Arteta-led Gunners.
“My girlfriend’s family are all Arsenal supporters. So, by default, I’m Arsenal as well,” Piastri revealed.
Well, the Australian will be attempting to avoid repeating the Gunners’ past and finishing in second position at Silverstone, which appears to be suffering from a lot of rain right now. It can be a situation that might actually work to Verstappen’s advantage.
Verstappen appreciated the challenging circumstances brought on by fluctuating winds across the fast-paced circuit in a statement following qualifying.
“It was tricky out there with the wind; it was all shifting around a bit and around here with these cars, it is extremely sensitive to it,” said the Red Bull driver.
Looking ahead to the race, the 27-year-old added,
“We are quite quick on the straight, we have to wait and see what tomorrow will do, but I am happy — it is a big boost for the team and excited to go racing tomorrow.”
