One of the most illustrious football teams in the world, Manchester United, have a long and illustrious history filled with great players. Some of the biggest names in football have come to Old Trafford because they are the Premier League’s largest club. They additionally yielded some of the best players British football has ever seen.

Many greats, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Sir Bobby Charlton, Roy Keane, and innumerable others, have graced the Theatre of Dreams’ turf, from the Busby Babes to the Class of ’92 and beyond. Many have gone on to make a name for themselves at the club with their goal-scoring abilities.

6. Paul Scholes – 564 appearances (138G, 62A)

Paul Scholes was one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Fledglings, a group of youngsters United hired under Ferguson’s leadership, after graduating from the academy. He debuted in full during the 1994–95 campaign. He went on to make 718 club appearances, which is the third-highest total of any player.

The midfielder has had great success and is still regarded as one of the greatest playmakers in the team’s history.

5. Ryan Giggs – 424 appearances (90G, 111A)

Born in Cardiff, Ryan Giggs came to Manchester when he was six years old because his father had joined Swinton RLFC. He started his career with Manchester City. At the age of 14, he joined United.

He is primarily a left midfielder. He played in the main team for the club for the following 23 years after making his professional debut in 1991. He held the club record of 963 competitive appearances before retiring at the end of the 2013–14 season.

Giggs was United through and through and established himself as a dynamic player who could manage the game, score goals, and dominate any position with his passing.

4. David Beckham – 393 appearances (85G, 115A)

At the age of 17, Beckham made his first-team debut for Manchester United in 1992, marking the start of his professional club career. He lifted the Intercontinental Cup, the FA Charity Shield twice, the Premier League six times, the FA Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions League in 1999 while playing for United.

Even though Beckham had a lot of success at United, his career was cut short after a fight with manager Alex Ferguson, but his service to the team puts him in United history.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo – 339 appearances (144G, 56A)

Cristiano Ronaldo reached stardom when he arrived at United. The club helped shape him into one of the best players of all time after he won his first Champions League and Ballon d’Or. Despite spending only a few seasons at the club, he led the club in goalscoring charts and dominated the Premier League.

During his time at the club, Ronaldo set many records and grew into one of the best of all time. The forward made a comeback to the club in 2021, which, however, didn’t end in a sweet farewell.

2. Bruno Fernandes – 314 appearances (104G, 96A)

Bruno Fernandes’ goal, which was his 200th direct goal for the team in the Premier League, held a lot of personal significance. In his 314th appearance, he achieved this milestone—a record only surpassed in the club’s history by the great Rooney.

With a goal or an assist in each of his previous six games, the Portuguese playmaker is in outstanding form. He has made 19 direct contributions in 24 games this season, which is an outstanding total.

Wayne Rooney remains one of the most loyal United players in the history of the club. During his career at the club, the forward set many records, which still remains ubrokem.

Wayne Rooney played for the Merseyside club Everton for two seasons before joining Manchester United for £25.6 million during the 2004 summer transfer window. There, he won 16 accolades and became one of just two English players—along with teammate Michael Carrick—to take home the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, League Cup, UEFA Europa League, and FIFA Club World Cup.

His 183 league goals for the Red Devils are the third-most recorded by a player in that competition for any single club. His 253 goals for United across all competitions make him the team’s all-time best striker.
