Throughout the course of history, the beautiful game of football has witnessed several unbelievable goals that have got the passionate worldwide fan base off their seats.
During this period, there have also been several incredible moments in football matches that have etched themselves in the world record books. With that said, here are the top 10 fastest shots in football history:
10. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 150 km/h
Arguably one of the most prolific strikers of his generation was Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who enjoyed an illustrious playing career. Having played for top teams such as FC Barcelona, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester United and PSG, Ibrahimovic dominated world football with his spectacular goals.
During PSG’s 5-0 thumping of Belgian side Anderlecht in the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a stunning goal that recorded a staggering speed of 150 km/h, making it one of the fastest shots ever recorded in football history.
9. Tony Yeboah – 154 km/h
Throughout his playing career, Tony Yeboah was renowned for his unbelievable goals. He has been responsible for some of the greatest goals scored in Premier League history.
While playing for Leeds United, Yeboah’s thunderous 154 km/h strike against Wimbledon got his name etched in the history books of the game. Earlier that season, he had already bagged a spectacular goal against Liverpool, which made him an instant fan favourite.
In the opening ten games of the 1995-96 season, Tony Yeboah netted a stellar 11 goals to kick off the campaign on red-hot form.
8. Ritchie Humphreys – 154 km/h
Ritchie Humphreys enjoyed a decent playing career, representing several clubs in the Premier League and EFL Championship for the majority of the period.
However, Humphreys’ wonder strike of 154 km/h against Aston Villa in 1996 made him a major talking point, as he had recorded one of the fastest shots ever in the history of the game.
7. David Trezeguet – 154.4 km/h
Dynamic forward David Trezeguet’s enjoyed a successful playing career, representing top teams such as Juventus and AS Monaco while also being a key part of the France national team setup. He was well-renowned for his stunning goals throughout that incredible period.
While playing for Monaco, a young Trezeguet scored a headline-grabbing goal against Manchester United. His fierce 154.4 km/h strike past goalkeeper Raimond Van der Gouw earned him a well-deserved spot in the record books.
6. David Beckham – 157.5 km/h
Throughout his player career, David Beckham was a global superstar both on and off the pitch. Beckham was widely regarded for his breathtaking goals and sumptuous set-piece routines that would be impossible to deal with even for world-class goalkeepers. In addition, his precise passing accuracy and incredible work rate made him a well-rounded midfielder.
During Manchester United’s visit to Chelsea in the 1997-98 Premier League season, David Beckham’s belter of a shot almost kissed the 158 km/h mark.

The fifth fastest shot ever recorded in football history goes to the former England international David Hirst.
While playing for Sheffield Wednesday, Hirst faced Arsenal during the 1995-96 Premier League season. Even though his lightning strike didn’t result in a goal, it ended up smashing the crossbar at an incredible speed of 183 km/h, leaving the fans in the stadium absolutely stunned.
4. Ronald Koeman – 188 km/h
Ronald Koeman is widely regarded as one of the greatest Dutch defenders of all time. In his stellar playing career, he represented several top teams such as Ajax and FC Barcelona. Despite primarily playing as a defender, Koeman had over 200 career goals under his belt, showcasing his incredible goal-scoring prowess in the process.
During Barcelona’s European Cup final against Italian side Sampdoria in the 1992 season, Ronald Koeman struck an absolute thunderbolt that hit the back of the net with an insane speed of 188 km/h.
3. Steven Reid – 189 km/h
Scoring a breathtaking goal with a shot speed of 189 km/h almost seems unimaginable. But defender Steven Reid achieved that feat, as he netted one of the most iconic goals in Premier League history.
While playing for Blackburn Rovers, the versatile fullback scored an absolute screamer goal against Wigan Athletic, as the ball flew into the back of the net in no time. Following that match, Steven Reid’s goal became a major talking point among fans for weeks, making it the third fastest shot in all of football.
2. Arjen Robben – 190 km/h
Arjen Robben was undoubtedly one of the best wingers in the world during his playing career at German giants Bayern Munich. Robben retired from football, having won it all at club level.
However, the former Dutch international recorded the second-fastest shot in football history during his brief spell with Spanish juggernauts Real Madrid. During a friendly match against Borussia Dortmund, Arjen Robben’s ferocious strike travelled at an incredible speed of 190 km/h, leaving the Dortmund goalkeeper completely rooted to his post.
1. Ronny Heberson – 210 km/h
The fastest shot ever recorded in football history was struck by Brazil’s Ronny Heberson. Even though Heberson never got the opportunity to represent the Brazil national team, he did end up playing for several great European clubs, such as Hertha Berlin and Sporting Lisbon.
While playing for Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese league, Ronny Heberson set the world record for the fastest shot ever recorded. Against Associacao Naval de Maio, the shot from which he scored a stunning goal reached an earth-shattering speed of 210 km/h.
