This year, a total of 1,248 players were on the world stage.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has now transitioned into the round of 32. This year, the mega competition is taking place in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

The extended tournament has 104 matches this time around and it will be interesting to see which team will be crowned as the world champions. Capable teams like Uruguay and South Korea have failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

France, Spain and England were the favourites to win the prestigious title ahead of the competition. The picture is now getting clearer with the performances of the respective teams. Les Bleus have emerged as the top contenders to win the flagship trophy this year with an 18.7% chance.

Lionel Messi’s Argentina have a 16.3%, Spain is third with 13.5% and England is fourth with a 9.7% chance. Their performances at the knockout stages can also change the current graph generated by the Opta Super Computer.
