PSG, Inter Miami, Botafoga and Palmeiras secure spots in the last 16, while Atletico Madrid and FC Porto crash out.
Matchday 9 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup saw some more clubs securing a spot in the round of 16. Things are now settled for Group A and Group B as all of their group stage matches are done.
Palmeiras and Inter Miami ended up on level terms and secured a spot in the last 16 of the mega competition. FC Porto and Al Ahly also ended their contest in a draw and have been knocked out of the tournament.
Group B also produced some interesting fixtures. Despite winning, Atletico Madrid have been knocked out only because of their goal difference. Diego Simeone-led Atleti showed some great performances whole season, but in the Club World Cup, they failed to do so.
Seattle Sounders from the MLS lost all of their group stage games and in their final group stage fixture, they fell prey to Paris Saint-Germain, who will now face Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the round of 16.
Despite the loss, Botafogo will move forward because of the better goal difference than that of Atlético Madrid. The Brazilian giants are doing well in the tournament and they will next face Palmeiras in the last 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
