FIFA introduces NEW £45 ticket for 2026 World Cup amid criticism

FIFA faced plenty of criticism due to their expensive ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup.
In response to criticism of the ticket prices for the competition, FIFA has introduced a limited quantity of “more accessible” $60 (£45) tickets for all 104 matches at the 2026 World Cup.
A specific number of “loyal fans” of the nations that have qualified for the World Cup will be eligible to purchase tickets at the decreased price, according to the World Football Organisation.
According to a FIFA official familiar with the talks:
“We have listened to feedback, and this new category is the right thing to do” – adding the decision was unanimous.
The £45 ticket is being called the supporter entry tier

The Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) refers to the former pricing arrangement as “scandalous” because it would have cost fans over £5,000 to follow England to the final.
The £45 ticket, which is in the “supporter entry tier,” the least expensive category, will account for 10% of the allotment for each football association whose team is competing in the tournament hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
This means that about 400 tickets priced at £45 will be available for England’s and Scotland’s group matches.
“The entry tier tickets will be allocated specifically to supporters of qualified teams, with the selection and distribution process managed individually by the participating member associations (PMAs),” said a FIFA statement.
“Each PMA will define its own eligibility criteria and application process. They are requested to ensure that these tickets are specifically allocated to loyal fans who are closely connected to their national teams.
“In total, 50% of each PMA allocation will fall within the most affordable range, namely supporter value tier (40%) and the supporter entry tier (10%). The remaining allocation is split evenly between the supporter standard tier and the supporter premier tier.”
Senior authorities in Doha, Qatar, met over the weekend and early this week to evaluate preliminary pricing comments.
English Football Association sources privately saw the move as a positive step after bringing up fans’ concerns over ticket prices with FIFA’s hierarchy before the meeting in Doha.
